A native of west Texas, I had the good fortune to live in several states throughout the southwest during my youth, and I am delighted to now settle in Durango and make it home. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, specializing in therapy and assessment with children, teens, young adults, and their families.
While earning my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and my Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, I worked within organizations such as Head Start, Methodist Children’s Home, and the Baylor University Counseling Center, through which I gained extensive experience with the needs of individuals from toddlerhood through young adulthood. I went on to complete my internship at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas and post-doctoral training at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Through my work with these organizations, I gained specialized training in the assessment and diagnosis of the Autism Spectrum, as well as learning differences, such as dyslexia. Upon relocating to Houston, Texas I joined a private practice where I continued to work with children, teens, young adults, and their families, providing outpatient therapy and evaluation services.
I have always been fascinated by the human condition and as early as high school, I became interested in the field of psychology, not only as an academic pursuit but also as a calling to help others wherever I can. I believe in the human potential to grow, adapt and learn. My therapeutic approach is primarily client-centered, meeting individuals where they are currently and providing support and tools to overcome challenges. I integrate aspects of cognitive, behavioral, play, and family systems approaches, as appropriate for each individual client. Likewise, I tend to approach assessment with a client-centered eye and goal of providing useful information.
