Coherence therapy
Helps you uncover why a stubborn symptom makes sense, so it can finally change.

What it is
Coherence therapy starts from a simple idea: a symptom that won't budge, like anxiety, depression, procrastination or a relationship pattern that keeps repeating, usually makes sense once you understand what it's protecting you from. It doesn't start from a diagnosis.
Most of us carry coping strategies that got us through a hard time earlier in life. Because they worked once, part of us still holds on to them, even when they now cause more problems than they solve. Coherence therapy helps you find that hidden emotional logic and bring it into the open. Once you can see it clearly and set it against what you know now, the old pattern often loosens on its own.
Our clinicians often combine coherence therapy with cognitive behavioral approaches, so you have both new understanding and practical skills.
Concerns it can help with
- Anxiety and depression
- Feeling like you're underachieving
- Repeating relationship struggles
- Hard life transitions
- Avoiding places or situations
- Chronic loneliness
What sessions look like
Sessions are collaborative and curious. Rather than trying to argue a symptom away, your therapist will help you ask what it might be doing for you, and you'll explore the beliefs and experiences underneath it. Change can come faster than people expect once the pattern makes sense.
If coherence therapy interests you, mention it when you request an appointment so we can match you with a clinician who uses it.
You don't need to pick an approach
If you have a preference, mention it when you request an appointment and we'll match you with a clinician who uses it. Every person responds to different things, so your clinician may combine approaches, with or without medication.
