All concerns we help with

Therapy for life transitions

Even good changes can be hard. A new job, a move, a graduation, a divorce or a new baby can shake your routines, your relationships and your sense of who you are. Therapy gives you room to sort through what you are feeling while everything is shifting.

A country dirt road splitting in two directions

You might be noticing

  • Feeling lost, restless or unsure what comes next
  • Missing who you were or what you left behind
  • Stress that does not switch off, or exhaustion from work
  • Loneliness after a move, a breakup or a change in your social world
  • Comparing yourself to friends who seem further along
  • Pulling back from people, or leaning on old habits to cope
  • Trouble sleeping or concentrating while things are unsettled

How we help

Change takes more out of us than we expect

Transitions often involve a loss, even when you chose them. You may be leaving a role, a place or a version of yourself. That mix of excitement and grief is normal, and it can be hard to explain to the people around you.

Work stress and burnout

Stress tends to pile up, and unchecked it wears a person down. If work has stopped feeling manageable, therapy can help you understand your stressors, set boundaries, slow down and find a pace you can sustain. If you are changing careers or finding your next step, we can help you think through your goals and your strengths.

Moves, college and early career

Graduating, searching for a first job and moving somewhere new can feel disheartening and lonely. Rejection after rejection can wear you down. This stage does pass, and you do not have to figure it out alone. Our psychological testing and assessment service can also support career and college planning.

Divorce, separation and retirement

Ending a marriage or leaving a long career changes your daily life and your identity. We help you grieve what is ending, make room for what is next, and look after yourself and your relationships along the way.

Becoming a parent

Pregnancy, adoption and the first year with a baby bring joy along with worry, exhaustion and big changes in identity and in your relationship. If you are struggling with low mood, anxiety or feeling disconnected after birth, our page on pregnancy, postpartum and fertility has more.

How we help

We use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and mindfulness-based approaches to help you get through the stress of change and to reconnect with what matters to you. Your clinician will work at your pace.

A plan built around you

Every person is different and responds to different things. Your care can combine several evidence-based approaches, with or without medication. If questions come up about ADHD, autism or learning, psychological testing is available within the practice. And your plan can change as your needs do, including moving to another clinician on our team whose expertise fits better.
