Therapy for trauma and PTSD
After a traumatic experience, the brain's normal way of processing memories can get overwhelmed. The experience stays "stuck," and your body and mind stay on high alert as if it might happen again.

You might be noticing
- Intrusive memories, nightmares or flashbacks
- Avoiding people, places or thoughts that remind you of what happened
- Being easily startled, irritable or always on guard
- Trouble sleeping or concentrating
- Feeling numb or disconnected from people you care about
- Using alcohol or other ways to shut things off
How we help
Trauma is one of our core specialties. EMDR helps your brain process traumatic memories without needing to describe every detail. Cognitive Processing Therapy helps you work through the beliefs about safety, trust and yourself that trauma can leave behind. CBT, mindfulness and grounding skills help you manage symptoms day to day. When sleep or anxiety is severe, our psychiatric nurse practitioner can help with medication. The goal is not just fewer symptoms. It's getting your life back.
A plan built around you
Every person is different and responds to different things. Your care can combine several evidence-based approaches, with or without medication. If questions come up about ADHD, autism or learning, psychological testing is available within the practice. And your plan can change as your needs do, including moving to another clinician on our team whose expertise fits better.
